Homeschool Made Easy

Toward Biblical Womanhood, Part 2

March 29, 2012 by Lea Ann Leave a Comment

Pass it on!

I told you the series would not be exhaustive. I just didn’t tell you that you would be exhausted waiting for the next installment. :  )

In Part 1, we briefly looked at who we were created to be, yet are not because of sin. I promised we wouldn’t start there, even though it was the beginning, because that story is too depressing.

So we’ll get as far away as we can from Genesis. That would be Revelation. Chapter 19 presents a beautiful and glorious picture which we often allude to in figures of speech and turns of phrase but don’t often enough meditate upon in its full portent.

After these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:

For true and righteous are his judgments; for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshiped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.

And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia; for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

And to her was granted that she should ber arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

The picture here of the triumph over sin and perversion to righteousness and perfection is breath-taking. Eve’s relationship with Adam was marred in an instant with devastating, far-reaching consequences upon all of humanity. Her union with God Himself was broken in that same moment, causing her to flee, to hide, to blame in shame.

And now at last – Alleluia! The Bride cries out in rapturous joy! All relationships are made right in righteousness (vs 8). Full communion with the Lord resumes (vs 7). The Bride is fully in the presence of her Beloved Creator, in unity of the saints (vs 1) and clothed in white (vs 8). What a wondrous moment, one for which all Creation groaneth together for.

Are we making ourselves ready, fellow brides? Are we readying our marriages, our relationships, our minds, our bodies, our souls for that all-important culmination?

Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus! [Rev. 22:20]
